Tweaked

My coaching mentor of 19 years and counting, finally had his first proper Māori healing bodywork session from me.

He’d been struggling with some back pain after a work out left him tweaked. He went to acupuncture and massage; used jacuzzis and ice packs, but it still remained. He’d also been dealing with a lot in his personal life.

So when he phoned, asking to see me the next day, I said of course. The session was amazing. He cried the entire time and made many mental & emotional connections, merely because of the cathartic nature of the bodywork.

After the session, he gushed at how amazing it was. He said he always sensed I was good at my work, but he had no idea I was that good. Before you go on thinking this is going to be some brag-fest, it’s not. He went on to share that my emails social media posts have not done it justice, and that I really need to work on that.

I responded by agreeing with him, and acknowledging that has been part of my work throughout the years. Putting words to what I do is no easy task. It’s something that must be experienced in order to fully appreciate it.

To understand and appreciate Māori healing bodywork (let alone, the coaching aspect of my practice) is a tall task for some to comprehend without actually experiencing it first hand. Even with the best explanations, it’s difficult to fully capture.

The work is hands on. It’s physical. It resembles a deep sports massage where things are getting worked out in the body from various physical injuries. However, the difference is the healer’s intuition to simultaneously help people dig deeper into the emotional connection that lies beneath the surfaces of their bodies.

Through the intention of the practitioner and technique, the physical points being worked on cause various areas of the body to act as portals to opening people’s mental, emotional, psychic, & energetic body.

Upon helping people connect and open up in this way, it succeeds in one of its main intentions, which is to help people actually FEEL, not just understand, how their body connects with their internal emotional self.

For some, the work helps them release stagnant energy & stuck emotions; for others, it helps them ground deeper within their body to help ease their panic & anxiety. It can help people connect with & heal past stored emotional & physical trauma; it can help people realize some root causes of mysterious ailments & dis-ease that have been plaguing them; it can also help people innately find their way with other aspects of their lives.
