Face it

I’ve had some difficult familial stuff going on lately. On a particularly challenging day, I was feeling the dread of showing up, but maintained perspective of how vital it is to do it anyway. For all those concerned, not to worry, it’s all gonna be fine.

But it had me thinking about many other difficult moments in my past, where it’s been vital to my development, both personally & professionally, to be able to show up & communicate.

In a previous post, I discussed the necessity of considering who we're BEING & not just what we're DOING, as a means of transforming our lives.

Showing up & communicating in difficult moments are vital skills to practice in establishing who we're BEING in life.

It’s not easy to quantify the benefits of doing this. For instance, we can quantify how a workout at the gym can help us with our health, our mood & to possibly help build our self-esteem.

On the other hand, quantifying how showing up & communicating in difficult moments is not as easily seen.

It could be as simple (but not easy) as working through our fears & building up our courage. By doing this, the body will find itself under less tension & stress from opening up fearful areas within ourselves, therefore creating better health & more liberation.

Alternatively, in NOT doing this work with ourselves, the compounding effect that fear has on our body is enormous.

Additionally, the psychological work-arounds we have to go through in order to avoid these fearful situations in our lives, creates character disorders which have huge negative effects, especially with interpersonal relationships.

It’s extremely important to face & show up to difficult moments in our lives. The experience & the wisdom that comes from this brings intangible value in the building of our life & character.

As they say, half the battle is in showing up.

Regardless of what you’re working through these days, commit to facing it & commit to communication.
