Where are you trying to get to in such a hurry?
Slowing down is underrated in this culture. We don’t value it nearly as much as we value speeding up.
Everything in this culture is built on "not enough" ... not good enough, not fast enough, not *** enough.
Speeding up certainly comes with some benefits, like productivity, but it also comes with a downside.
The downside can look like burn out, mental/emotional stress, exhaustion, sickness, illness & disease, actual decrease in productivity, & emotional disconnection from loved ones.
On the other hand, slowing down can deepen one's connection to whatever they’re trying to build.
By decelerating, we can create a connection that internalizes all the vital lessons & emotions you’re going to need along the way. Taking the time up front will eventually help propel you to grow faster & further than you would without this vital connection.
For example: Have you noticed the difference of your connection to your surroundings when you drive somewhere versus when you walk? Sure, driving gets you there faster, however, with walking, you notice significantly more details than you would if whizzing by in a car.
There is also an epidemic of people putting unrealistic expectations on themselves when it comes to accomplishing certain things.
It seems obvious that certain things come easily, while, others must be developed over time by strengthening skills we aren't born with. But knowing this about ourselves, where we are strong and where we need to devlop, is critical, so that we can honor instead of abusing ourselves in order to accomplish something faster. The rush to acomplishment will only create frustration, anxiety & a growing disappointment in ourselves.
Know the difference between what you innately came into this world being good at, versus what you’re needing to learn & earn.
Slow down to speed up, especially in the areas you need to learn & earn. Enjoy the process of building something, instead of abusing yourself.
