Trigger Points

A trigger point is any mental, emotional or physical spot on a person that contains some kind of sensitivity, reactivity, pain, inflammation, dysfunction, shame, or fear.

Trigger points become especially noticeable when these areas have been “touched,” either verbally or physically. When this happens, knowingly or unknowingly, we become scared, shameful, or both, about something that’s been hit.

Some mental/emotional trigger points could be:

Can’t be misunderstood or seen as not caring, cheap, or ungrateful.

Need to be liked, understood, considered, seen, respected & not dismissed.

Our trigger points can be touched within the body, on a particular muscle, joint or fascia. It can also be triggered by touching upon certain conversational subject matters that can cause trigger points to be activated mentally and emotionally.

Walking through our lives, constantly blaming others for OUR trigger points is not a powerful way to live. It’s better to take full responsibility for our sensitive spots.
