Pivoting by way of the Corona Virus
I’ve never been through anything like this before, but I have been through some rough patches in my life. I’ve been stripped to a very low level with tons of fear & not much else going for me besides a never say die attitude, a determination to constantly put one foot in front of the other & a vision for what I wanted to create.
Corona virus: Fear & Stress
There’s two issues that were dealing with at the moment; one is the Corona virus & the other is fear & stress; both are worthy of our full attention.
The Corona virus is something we should definitely be considering & taking the necessary precautions to minimize the spread of. But more importantly is understanding the magnitude that fear & stress has on our nerve system, which ultimately has a major impact on our health.
The Fear Virus
It’s not that I don’t believe the Corona virus is a real thing, because I do, I just don’t believe it’s anything more than a specific strain of influenza virus going around. We’ve been through this cycle so many times, but with a different name attached to it ... each time a new name comes up & people forget & panic. In 2009 it was H1N1/the swine flu, the bird flu, SARS, that bacterial flesh eating disease thing; the list goes on & the cycle will probably continue till the end of time.
You gotta fight for a life
No matter what your situation is, you have to fight for a life if you’re going to live one by your design & not of others making. There’s nothing passive about this path & no one can do it for you. It takes tremendous courage, persistence & consistency to steer your life into the direction of your dreams. There will be so many obstacles standing in your way, which will be too many to name, but that will make no difference…
Thriving in relationships
I’ve always loved & thrived in the relationship of figuring out life, health & healing, together with people ... & I always will ...
I’ve said it to many close to me that life is both, one big joke & simultaneously no joke; that you have to be strong & flexible if you’re going to survive or possibly even thrive & enjoy whatever it means to have a good life...
How to look at unhealed trauma
It’s like an icicle that runs the the line of the deepest part of our bodies. It sits there frozen, filling in the gaps of our unhealed trauma, protecting us from the pain of those things we’ve long since forgot or can’t handle. It helps us disconnect from all the overwhelming feelings we simply find it too difficult to process. With that disconnection from the pain & trauma, comes a disconnect from our minds & bodies, where these feelings are buried.
How do you know you have unhealed shame & trauma?
Where you have unhealed shame or trauma, you’ll have difficulty in manifesting, as well as other related issues, so identifying these places is vital. Below is a list of prompts that might tip you off to some of those areas you might be holding on to both.
Vulnerability is vital for deep healing
Constantly being in attack-mode, Mamba-mentality, anger & being out to prove something, in every area of your life will only get you so far & with certain kinds of results, however being able to deploy different mentalities depending upon the area of your life & the situation is vital; & that’s especially true when it comes to deep healing.
Grief, trauma, letting go & healing
This communication isn’t just about Kobe, but about loss & grief in general. For some, they’ve experienced things in their lives where they’ve never grieved & that affects their current lives. For others, they tend to hang on too long to things & struggle with forgiving or letting go & moving forward & this shows up as well. Lastly, there are those who try & hurry through grief & don’t allow for a healthy time to process all they’ve been through ...
Mamba mentality
If we learned one thing from Kobe, it would be that he let nothing stop him from learning how to do something, even if it meant that it was going to be painful. He played through massive amounts of pain, because he was obsessed with winning & to one day be considered the best to ever play the game.
I love Kobe’s mentality when it came to this & many other things relating to Mamba-mentality…
Life after loss
How do we find our way after some kind of loss in our life? The quick answer is, the best way we can & know how. I was thinking about following up on my last post about the loss of #Kobe & it has me thinking about how people can move forward in a healthy way after experiencing loss like this & many other things in their lives. For me, moving forward meant that I needed to move my emotional self & not just my physical life forward…
Kobe.
For those looking to truly heal anything in their lives, you must be able to navigate & integrate, loss, heartbreak & the ability to learn how to let go, because loss is a fact of life & a big component to healing. And yet, for those closest to me, they’ve heard me rage at how much I sometimes hate the way life is at times. I’ve said life is heartbreaking & this is one of those moments. I don’t like the way life is set up. This is terrible.
Somatic Healing in 2020
Somatic healing is the use of physical healing techniques, with the specific intention to help you connect to deeper aspects of your body & psyche, including your emotional & energetic bodies, sexual energy, as well as past trauma. It’s become more popular than ever, because people who are open & motivated to find expeditious ways to heal, are finding that utilizing the body, instead of just relying purely on traditional therapists…
Stop acting like a victim where you're not one
There are those people who you know that act like victims where they aren’t ones ... & yes it’s annoying AF. But here’s the thing, to stop acting like a victim where you aren’t one in your current life, you would have to acknowledge where you actually have been a victim in your past. When someone doesn’t see it or refuses to acknowledge where they’ve been a victim in the past, it makes it very difficult for them to see it…
Coaches, healers & therapists aren't perfect
Some people look at us & judge those aspects of ourselves & our lives that are vulnerable to us, but what they don’t realize is that their judgment says a lot more about them, than it does about us.
What they don’t realize is that the way they treat or talk about us, especially regarding our sensitivities & frailties, is exactly how…
People choose the level of coaching or healing, to the degree that they can handle it
Remember, the truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off ... & good coaching & healing will definitely do that - it might not feel good, but it’s certainly good for you.
Some things can't be explained, they must be felt
This is certainly true for my work, especially the bodywork portion of it. I saw a new client recently & this inspiring subject came up ... I can share how Maori healing bodywork is like deep tissue massage & that it helps people to connect emotionally, so sometimes you can cry, laugh hysterically or even get really pissed off - but that doesn’t really do it justice.
Never stop being a student
No matter how much of an expert you are at something, it’s important to learn how to come from the place of being a student to someone else’s expertise & teaching. It’s also powerful to continually learn to allow yourself the feelings that come with being vulnerable when learning something difficult. I think the vulnerability that one feels when going through that beginning learning curve, causes us to be continually humbled…
How is your relationship with your health and body going?
Think of the question as if Im talking about an actual person you’re in a relationship with & someone asks you the same kind of question.
How would you answer it?🤔
Journal this out.
