Blind Loyalty
Anyone in their area of expertise has the ability to take vast amounts of information, agendas & cultural biases & then decide for themselves what they feel the truth is or the best course of action to take for a given situation.
For instance, as a Chiropractor by degree & someone who is of the holistic healing world, I do this with health all the time.
Pandemic Intention
When the pandemic first began, I started writing & sharing how it poked at some old trauma, pain & fear about my past. Then it morphed into sharing about all kinds of subjects that included utilizing this sacred time to dig deep & do some serious introspection about my life, who I am being & the things I want to create; including relationship & family.
With all that intention, these past couple of days, I’ve noticed some kind of shift…
Woke
These days you’ll hear the term “woke” tossed around; as in awoke. It’s the new vernacular to describe someone who stands out from the typical herd mentality of the culture & speaks in a way that exhibits both self-awareness introspective qualities about themselves as well as the ability to question any media or governing body & entity that promotes that they should be blindly followed.
Getting above it all
Regardless of whether you’re on some kind of “healing journey” like I’ve always considered myself to be on, you literally have to take breaks & get away from your routine, your environment, your space, your work & sometimes you even have to get away from the people you love in order to restore a healthy perspective towards everything.
These past two days I did a couple of hikes up a trail that I haven’t been up in awhile & it felt good.
Holding back feelings
Regardless of whether or not you’re connected to the feeling of what it’s like to hold back your feelings, the fact is, it’s an exhausting pursuit & it’s literally killing you; most people only realize it when they’ve burst into tears at some point, thrusting them into the realization of how much they’ve been holding onto.
As we take part in all kinds of healing & therapeutic practices, we tend to grow in our awareness & physical connection with our feelings.
I have fear, fear does not have me
I came across this line that sort of crept into my mind & ever since then, it’s stuck with me - “let your fears make you fierce”. For about a month I’ve had that line on repeat over & over again, all the way up until the other morning. Then it got more clear & I thought that I want to have my fears, but I don’t want to allow my fears to have me.
Memory lane
With the quarantine associated with the Corona virus in full swing, it seems as though there might be some good to come out of it after all. Before I go any further, let me say now that I am extremely hesitant to use these words because of the people & families negatively being effected by it all in one way or another. While on that note, let me say that my heart goes out to all those effected, especially those who have become ill & lost loved ones.
Conspiracy theorists
If you’re always playing the devils advocate, your credibility is suspect. These days, with the Corona virus, there’s a ton of solid information, misinformation & then there’s the conspiracy theories that always seem to be a part of it all.
I’ve never met a conspiracy theorist that didn’t seem to me like they had some unresolved fear, anxiety & panic that was driving their theories…
Parents
A lot of us are worried about our parents during this time & it’s bringing up a lot of deep feelings. For some of us, were struggling with how to deal with our feelings regarding their “behaviors” ... meaning, they’re doing what they want & not necessarily staying at home & being careful & it’s driving us nuts.
Yelling at our parents cause we’re worried about them is not going to change their behavior.
Loss and losing
What we’re all going through is a perfect time for learning how to deal with the feelings associated with loss & losing.
Just because someone has experienced loss in their lives, does not necessarily mean they’ve processed the feelings associated with it or learned how to integrate them into their lives.
Corona Prevention and Healing
It’s one thing to come into contact with someone who has the “virus” but that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get it. Regardless of our age or health condition, our mindset should be one of strengthening our immune system, and building it up incrementally. Make sure not to tax your Immune System too hard with excessive undue stress and even exercise. Keep the exercise moderate & never fully “emptying” your tank which causes the body to work too hard to replenish itself.
Dark nights, or days, of the soul
My heart is full of love & tons of feelings as write this & its partly inspired by a client/friend who’s having a bit of a dark day. One thing we all must get, is that everyone is going to have a dark day, or two or more during this quarantine time; it’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when. And just like a “dark night of the soul” what’s going to be paramount is how we navigate that darkness & all the heavy feelings that want to pour out of us.
Psychosomatic
It feels like we’re at the point where people’s “patience”, as we call it, is wearing thin & now for one reason or another, raw feelings are starting to surface & reveal themselves in our bodies. Right about now is the time where people’s adrenaline is starting to settle down a bit & we’re beginning to reconnect again into our bodies from everything that’s been going on.
Love, in the time of corona
For me ... It’s more like, single, in the time of Corona. For some, they are quarantined with their significant other, husband, wife, kids etc. while others like myself, are single.
I kept saying Love in the time of Corona, which always followed with an eye roll when continuing to talk about the subject with someone, because I was having a bit of a tough time finding my way with it; horny, lonely, the usual.
Kobe Bryant
I saw this mural near my house the other day & I wanted to do a post purely because it was so great. Whether it’s Kobe or anyone else in our lives that we’ve lost, they possibly will never know this experience that all of us are going through these days.
I say possibly, because I don’t know what goes on after people die. For all we know, they could have an awareness of the Corona virus & still be aware of all of our goings on ... I’d actually like to think that.
50 shades of fear
Is the Corona virus real? ... yes. Do I totally know what it is or is it everything the media says it is, I won’t go that far, yet. But what I do know is that it’s excavating peoples fear like I’ve never seen in my lifetime. Gone are the cover-ups that insulate us from having people see our fear. You can say that the only reason the fear is there is because of the Corona virus & I’m hear to say, that .. is .. just .. not ... so. The fear was there long before the Corona virus came along.
A Quote I Live By
“This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a might one, the being a force of nature, instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.” - George Bernard Shaw
Above is a quote I personally live by & felt compelled to share it with everyone before I head to bed.
Fear is definitely a factor
In healing, the mind plays a major roll with things like pain, sickness & many other things. Of course there are exceptions to why certain people get sick & why others don’t, however this is a generalization that I think is worthy to mention.
The Corona virus is certainly legit despite conspiracy theorists; people from all over are experiencing consistent symptoms that lay outside the basic symptomatology of that of the common flu.
Quarantine Healing
When this Corona virus thing started, an idea quickly came to me that I’d like to share.
After the initial jolt of fear subsided, I thought to myself, that however long this time period lasts, I’m going to utilize it & see it as an opportunity to heal something within myself that I wasn’t necessarily able to do pre-Corona virus.
Social distancing from fear
It’s been a heck of a week filled with finding our way with this Corona virus: new developments & shifts in necessary hygiene habits, the mass amounts of fear & emotions running hi, numerous layoffs & all the various personal & professional pivots taking place because of it all.
Since my last IG post, I’ve hit high gear & I’m committed & dug in to helping as many people as I can to find their way through all of this…
